Axim Kundum Planning Committee Unveils New Development Plan, Launches "Social Mobilization Platform" For 2026 Celebration
The Axim Kundum Planning Committee has introduced a new development blueprint for this year’s Axim Kundum Festival, with a major focus on community participation and cultural growth.
At the heart of the new plan is the launch of a “Social Mobilization Platform” a stronger structure designed to deepen community engagement and ensure every stakeholder has a role in the 2026 celebration.
The announcement was made during a stakeholder meeting in Axim ahead of the official launch of the festival scheduled for August 16, 2026.
A Stronger Platform For Community Engagement
According to the Planning Committee, the Social Mobilization Platform will serve as a direct link between the Traditional Council, youth groups, market associations, churches, schools, NGOs, and the diaspora.
Committee members explained that the platform is aimed at:
1. Increasing local ownership of Kundum activities and decision-making
2. Mobilizing resources and volunteers for events, sanitation, security, and cultural displays
3. Promoting Nzema culture through schools, media, and social outreach
4. Creating economic opportunities for local businesses, artisans, and vendors during the festival period
“This year we are doing things differently,” a committee spokesperson said. “Kundum is not just for chiefs and elders. It belongs to all of us. The Social Mobilization Platform will make sure every voice in Axim and Nzema is heard and involved.”
Focus On Development Beyond Celebration
The new development plan also outlines projects that will leave a lasting impact beyond the festival. These include youth skills training, clean-up campaigns, tourism promotion, and partnerships to support small businesses in Axim.
The Committee noted that last year’s celebration was massive, but 2026 will be “super doper” with more structured planning, better coordination, and wider participation from Ghanaians at home and abroad.
Call To Action
The Planning Committee is calling on all residents of Axim, Nzema communities, and the Ghanaian diaspora to join the Social Mobilization Platform and support the 2026 Kundum.
“This year's Kundum Abisa and all other activities will be the greatest we have ever experienced,” the Committee added. “Come to Axim and feel the love, custom, and rich culture of Ghanaians.”
With preparations already underway, organizers say the platform will be rolled out in phases across communities in the Nzema area in the coming weeks.
The official launching of Axim Kundum 2026 is set for Sunday, August 16, 2026 in Axim.
