Gone were the days when the NDC under its founder Rawlings had very well behaved and brilliant personalities like Late PV Obeng, Justice D.F. Annan, late Dr. Mrs. Mary Grant, Emma Mitchell, Mr. Nuamah Donkor, Late Yeliborah Antonmwini, Nene Mike Gi
zo, Late Edward Salia, Ambassador Victor Gbeho, Martin Amidu, Kojo Yankah, Alban Sumani Bagbin, and others I cannot mention here for ease of time, made NDC an attractive package.
Late Atta-Mills innocently introduced the John Dramani Mahama and sharp teething youth who had not even had any experience at the labour front, into the governing domain of the country.
Some of such sharp teething youth, Alhassan Suhuyine, Sam George, Fiifi Kwetey, Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa, Mutala Mohammed, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, Kofi Adams, Solomon Nkansah, and some aged notches like Kofi Portorphy, Johnson Asiedu Nketsia, Hannah Bissiw, Anita D'esoosu, Allotey Jacobs, who found a way into the highly respected institutions like the Parliament House, ministries, and political party hierarchy, mount platforms to hurl unprintable insults at even the brilliant, decent, and experienced self-made politicians. Thereby, marring the reverence surrounding the country's political institutions into a laughing stock.
The Irony is that as gentle and wise as Late Mills was his generation of the NDC has not replicated his persona in an exemplary fashion, but rather, bred a dose of opposite characters to his sober and gentle being.
The question is, what has gone amiss? The founder (Rawlings), since then has been restless about the conduct of the new breed of the NDC to the extent of branding elements of his own party "greedy bastards and thieves"
Occasionally as a father, he advises the new breed of his party but all pieces of advice fall on deaf ears!
Has Rawlings cut his own nose to spite his face by introducing a gentleman full of wisdom (late Mills) to have taken over the mantle of leadership from him?
Another question that lingers on my pursed lips is, has a spell been cast on the new breed of the NDC making them arrant, arrogant, insensitive, unwise, and deaf to advice and learning?
Such is evident in the character of the NDC followers who communicate on social media in defence of their party full of insults and bankrupt of even their own political ideology.
